Poorly Stripe

I have some sad news, Stripe, my sweet affectionate little rat is not well at all. Over the last two days he has suddenly become very weak and is unable to get about the cage very much.
His breathing is quite shallow, and I think it is quite serious.

I’m feeding him soft food with Nutrical, keeping him warm, and monitoring his condition. He’s already on a course of the antibiotic Baytril for his Myco infection.

Get better Stripey.

  1. This is very sad :( one of my 6[!!!] girls is really poorly at the moment aswell, we think it’s either an ear infection or a brain tumor, so she’s on Baytril aswell as of yesterday, I’m really hoping that clears it up because if it doesn’t then we know she’s uncurable. She’s acting really lethargic aswell, can’t eat solid food and is having trouble using the water bottle, so I pour a little bit of wate into my hand and she laps it up out of that, so sweet! The worst bit is her head tilt and the fact she keeps falling over. She seems to be a bit better though because she’s cleaned all the rusty staining from around her eyes and nose, so I’m praying she’s on the mend! I hope Stripe gets better, it’s amazing how attatched we get to such little creatures! x

  2. As you will see by my latest post, Stripe didn’t make it. It’s heartbreaking, but I know I did my best for him, and he didn’t suffer too much. When the medication didn’t work I kept him comfortable, and when I felt the time was right I let him go. That’s all you can do really.

I hope your little girl improves, you are obviously giving her the best chance to recover.

    Healing Vibes,
    Julie
